WEBINAR: Planting Resiliency–Exploring Below-ground Mitigation Techniques for Urban Trees

May 12, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am

Dr. Andy Kaufman from the University of Hawaii-Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources planted a test plot of trees (a first ever for tropical species!) at UH’s Waimanalo research station, including faux concrete sidewalks, almost a decade ago to study tree root mitigation techniques. Since we all know that trees can conflict with underground infrastructure, his findings will be of interest to anyone in development, landscape/general architecture, and engineering — especially technical folks.

The Land Economics Foundation (LEF), which is an arm of the Lambda Alpha International ( LAI ) is a global land economics society of which several TFHF board members belong, helped support Dr. Kaufman’s research and is hosting this webinar.

The link to register is below. You don’t need to be an LAI member to register/attend. Just check “Aloha-Hawaii Chapter” for the box that says “Chapter”. And although it asks for a donation to LEF, none is required unless there is a desire to provide support this no-for-profit entity.
