Native Born

I HAVE BEEN AN IMPORTANT TREE FOR MANY THROUGHOUT OCEANIA, IN FACT, THE FIRST HAWAIIAN’S BROUGHT ME WITH THEM ON THEIR JOURNEY HERE! LITTLE DID THEY KNOW I HAD ALREADY ARRIVED IN KAUAI ON MY OWN, MAKING ME INDIGENOUS.
Read more about me below. We work sooooooooo hard for you; all we ask is a little lovin’ in return.

I can get quite big and tall and provide a great place for shade from the hot sun. Just as the early Hawaiians planted me around their houses and enjoyed my magnificent shade, you too can find a nice spot beneath my canopy. I love Kaimuki with its sunny skies, low rain, and its soil. Did you know I also can be used for carving, dye, fishing, bowls, and medicine? I have beautiful orange flowers for lei and putting a smile on your face.
Indigenous: in·dig·e·nous /inˈdijənəs/ originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native.
