Manu O Kū Festival

Trees provide homes for myriad wildlife including birds. Join the milestone 10th Annual Manu O Kū Festival that celebrates the official bird of the City & County of Honolulu. This year’s festival will include:

  • 20 organization and agency booths providing family friendly crafts, activities, and information about native environmental and conservation efforts
  • bird scopes and bird walks to view the nesting Manu O Kū on ‘Iolani Palace grounds
  • kids nature-themed costume contest (scheduled to start at 1:30pm)
  • photo ops and parade of our group of costume characters to include Hina the monk seal and Aloha Kea the Manu O Kū…and more
  • educational and informative talks
  • multiple musical entertainers to include a performance by the Royal Hawaiian Band and ukulele duo Corey Fujimoto and Kalei Gamiao
  • Hula performance by Kumu Hula James Dela Cruz and Nā ‘Ōpio a me Nā Kupuna O Ko‘olau
  • “Bruddah Bryan” Min emcee
  • instructional painting opportunities with Patrick Ching
  • Keiki Reading Corner with special author readings of beloved children’s books about the Manu o Kū
  • Art Display tent featuring various art projects centered around the Manu o Kū
